“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
I must admit, you all are awesome. The past two weeks have been insane on my Facebook, Instagram, messages, and even on my blog. The love and support has been out of this world and I am very appreciative. Thank you, thank you. Glory be unto God always.
We, as people, are professionals at pointing out what others need to change about themselves. We are experts in the field of identifying everyone else’s faults and shortcomings. But when it comes down to examining ourselves and acknowledging the areas in our lives that have room for improvement, or sometimes even, removal…. *silence*
From this blog forth, let’s get real real.
The issue many have – including myself – when it comes to growth is learning how and when to uproot the weeds we have planted in our own lives. Because , believe it or not, we are as flowers. And flowers are naturally beautiful and pleasing to the eye no matter where they grow. No matter what your current situation or surroundings appear to be. But first, before we can even grow properly and sprout into our fullest potential, we need to cultivate away the things about ourselves that hinder us.
For me, I had to tackle pride. I did not want to, but God finally said ‘Enough’, stepped in, and deeply humbled me. Y’all it was a painful process, but much needed. Now, don’t get scared and believe God will deal with you the same way. I was just stubborn and knew better. Through all the pain, I am grateful my father in Heaven loved me enough to chastise me and redirect my footsteps back in the right direction. If I had continue going about life my way, I would probably be dead, in jail, or a mental institution. Yes, you read that right. See, I am here to keep it real because I am so tired of everyone trying to sell a perfect image. I am not the Christian who has never done anything wrong or never slipped up from time to time. This is me. The imperfect lover of God and people. The same me God chose to heal and strengthen for the greater good of His Kingdom.
“For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.”
Right now, take a moment and dig deep. Be honest with yourself. You can never truly experience long-lasting growth when you cannot even get out of your “perfection” mindset when you are alone with yourself. See, I can only point you to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. It is solely up to you to rise up, conquer self, and grow in God.
Everyday I ask God to search my heart. I’m not in this for fame or a name. I’m in this because their are lost souls out there who need to hear the testimony of someone who’s been there. Me? I have suffered with depression, anxiety, PTSD, bitterness, self-loathing, addictions, haughtiness, lewdness. I hurt people in my past. I was toxic. I was ungodly and the list goes on. And on. And on. I can boldly admit to these once shameful things because I am secure in who I am now, and I am assured of the blood that washed me clean. But the most important part is I repented of my wrongdoings – my sins.
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,”
So have you spotted out at least one flaw in yourself yet? If you have even spotted out more than one, I am so proud of you. Now that you have a starting place, I want you to begin everyday to pray to God in the mornings and before bed and simply ask God to heal you of that stumbling block in your life. This is only for the people who are serious about change. Who are serious about giving their lives to God. God loves you no matter what. He’s your father and He has been waiting on you to return home. To rest your worry, fears, anger, uncertainty, pain, heartbreak, and everything in between all on Him. Also do not only pray genuinely from your heart, but even Google scriptures on that very struggle in your life and recite them daily. Do this everyday and repeat as needed with other areas in your life. You are not too far gone. You are not hopeless. And you are surely not unlovable.
“But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love…”
As I said earlier in this blog, we are as flowers. And what does a flower need in order to grow? Well for one, it needs the sun. In this case, however, we need the Son. Jesus is also the water in which we should thirst. And the good ground that we should strive to be planted in.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
Be an example. You never know who’s watching you. You never know who’s needing to hear your testimony. You just never know. As this world continues to turn it’s back on God, we should be pushing back even harder. I cannot sit back and watch the devil disarm, devour, deceive, and destroy my family, friends, and fellow brothers and sister anymore. He has had His way long enough and God is going to end it once and for all. Which side will you choose? The Bible says one or the other, but both you cannot serve.
Let Us Pray:
Thank You, Yeshua. We just want to thank You for your goodness, your unconditional love, and your discipline right now. We seek out your correction and guidance in our lives this very day – this very moment. We ask that Your words alone be in our mouths. Your love in our hearts. Your thoughts in our minds. We give You all the glory, Yahweh! Please continue to keep us and our family and friends as we walk to evil earth everyday. We repent right now of our sins, both confessed and hidden. Today, we change. Today, we turn from our old selves and put on our new man in You.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
To see young people loving God melts my heart, y’all! You have no idea! Keep striving. Don’t give up. Don’t back down. Face yourself. Grow
No conviction = No change.
Now, you all may not see me on my social media for another week. Do not be alarmed. I am going into prayer mode. I am gearing up for this spiritual war. I have to be on guard. I love you all! Remember this always. I can only be a blessing to you only when I am overflowing with God. Think of this as my time away to fill back up. Haha! You all be blessed. Don’t forget to pray.
Peace and Blessings,
Alicia – The Prodigal Daughter
